Perhaps I judged her too early. We spoke again by the fire and this time she seemed to listen. Is it her or myself that is naive about how things should work? It has always been difficult for me, but she speaks as though it should be as easy as breathing. She is as puzzled by my loss as I am, but has offered hope… a light in my encompassing darkness. I had a light once, I remember that above all others…

…and I was foolish enough to draw the brief attention of a god…
